It probably comes as no surprise that the number one reported resolution year after year is to get in shape. It is also said that reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body, so let’s add a few books to your list to get the brain flexing!

If you don’t like to read, you may still enjoy a good audiobook – pro-tip many libraries offer a huge assortment of audiobooks these days. So, you really have nothing standing between you and a few good books.

1.) How To Win Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie

A widely known classic, this book is perfect to kick off your New Year. If you’ve read this book, it’s very likely it was early on in your career – for me it was 12 years ago. If you’ve heard of it, but haven’t dived in yet you really should. Feeling extra ambitious? Check out the updated version: How to Win Friends & Influence People in the Digital Age.

2.) Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life…And Maybe the World, by William H. McRaven

When you’re thinking of how to live your best life, you may start with eating right and getting fit, you may even recognize you need more sleep (thanks to Arianna Huffingtons The Sleep Revolution), but do you consciously make your bed? Readers of this book swear by it and what better way to start off the year than with a new healthy habit? Quick wins are good for anyones moral, but this book claims it will change the course of your day and even your life. Too good to be true? You’ll have to read more to discover why.

3.) Measure What Matters, by John Doer

The New Year brings another chance to get it right and measuring what matters can help. This story gives you a history lesson on how companies like Intel and Google have measured their way to the top and how your company can do the same.

This top three list is just a starting point, and at the very least here is to you discovering your next favorite book!
