Let’s meet Shay!
Hi everyone. My name is Shay Navin. I am a key account manager here at Wonolo and I’ve been with Wonolo for about three years and I am located in Reno, Nevada.
What is one perk of working from home at Wonolo that you really appreciate?
One perk of working from home at Wonolo that I really love is all the extra family time that I get. I work in a room next to my husband. We get to spend a lot of time with each other. I can go in and bug him when I have a break, or sometimes as we just go out and ride bikes around the neighborhood for 15 minutes. That’s been really nice and I just love the extra time.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who has never worked remotely before?
I generally try really hard not to eat at my desk or in front of my laptop, which is actually something really different from before. It wasn’t an everyday thing, but when I was in the office, I would eat a lot more often in front of my laptop. That’s something that I’ve really been working on, and I think it’s helpful when you’re working from home to create some separation of your mealtimes, breaks, and things like that. Understanding that you’re going to have different responsibilities when you’re working from home and you may have to step away for 10 minutes to help a family member or receive a delivery or something like that. I think being okay with having those boundaries and knowing that it’s a different atmosphere is important.
What is one piece of “work from home” equipment you couldn’t live without?
One piece of work at home equipment that I couldn’t live without and, I’m sure everybody says this, is really fast wifi. There’s nothing worse than a zoom call that’s glitchy. It’s frustrating for everyone. You can never get your word in, and it’s just not a good look. So fast wifi is a must!
