Wonolo
How did you get started on the Wonolo platform?
I first heard of Wonolo through some coworkers. They told me about it during our lunch break one day and two or three of us signed up together.
I was a critical care nurse when the pandemic hit. After a while, I finally had to choose to take care of myself rather than take care of everyone else. I have two asthmatics at home and my mother is 70 years old. My sister also has a low immune system and it just wasn’t worth the harmful things that I could come in contact with and possibly spread to others.
What surprised you about Wonolo when you first started using it?
I was surprised that I was able to work the different jobs and I found I was able to maintain our family’s income for a little over a year now. I’ve been able to maintain a substantial income, more than I thought was possible on a job app. Especially with Wonolo being the first app I ever tried.
What do you enjoy most about finding jobs through Wonolo?
The flexibility is especially what I needed. Between trying to homeschool a sophomore and seventh-grader in the midst of trying to work, the flexibility was a lifesaver.
Along with the flexibility I also love the different experiences I get to have when working with different companies.
How has Wonolo helped you achieve your goals?
With the flexibility I had working jobs posted on Wonolo, I was able to reach my goal of going from an LVN (licensed vocational nurse) to an RN (registered nurse). This was a long-term goal of mine that I had wanted to achieve for some time. With COVID and not having the time and flexibility, plus having three kids, it just wasn’t possible before. With the flexibility I found through using the Wonolo app, I was finally able to achieve this goal.
Up until now, I’ve filled my week by working jobs I find through Wonolo. I love that I now have the option to do both RN work as well as pick up a job on Wonolo if I’d like to.
What would you say to someone who’s on the fence about trying Wonolo?
I would tell them to definitely give Wonolo a try. I know they won’t have a bad experience. From my experience, all of the jobs on Wonolo have been posted by companies that try to make new workers feel as comfortable as possible.
