Wonolo
Hello everyone! My name is Brianna and I’m from Jamaica. I found Wonolo when I first moved to the U.S. while I was living in New York. I heard about the app 5 years ago in 2015!
Before I moved to the U.S., I was working as the receptionist and office manager for a solar company. I pretty much did everything in that office. I called clients, gave estimates, and did all of the back-end admin work. When I moved here, I knew I needed a job from the get-go. I found Wonolo right away and it was my survival when I first immigrated. Finding a job can be tough, especially when you don’t anyone in a new country. Picking up jobs without an application made earning an income so much easier for me.
Most of my friends are other Wonoloers. We met on the job. Hung out at the Wonoloer holiday parties, and gave each other tips about the different jobs available. I still talk to a core group too, even though I’m now in Florida. The community I built through this app will always stay with me. It’s one of the things I’m most grateful for.
I’ve gained so many opportunities through Wonolo and I would love to one day bring this kind of app to Jamaica. My dream is to run my own business one day, and this could be the perfect idea for my home country!
