Wonolo

Let’s meet Sam!

Hi, my name is Sam Farzan. I am a launcher on Wonolo’s customer operations team. What that means is I get to work with new business customers. I help them on board and ensure they have an awesome first experience working with Wonoloers.

What events in your life have brought you to your current role today?

Before coming to Wonolo,  I worked for a couple of other technology companies and it’s interesting because I never actually thought I would end up in the on-demand staffing space. What attracted me to Wonolo was the company’s mission and values. I think what we’re doing at Wonolo is really unique. We’re all about empowering people to find flexible jobs and that’s what attracted me. When I joined the company,  I had the opportunity to be one of the first people on the customer operations team and helped formulate the way our team operates. That was really attractive and a cool opportunity. Of course, the primary reason why I came here was the mission.

Who do you look up to and why do you look up to them?

My dad is definitely one of the people that I admire and I look up to both professionally and personally. My parents are immigrants. They immigrated from Iran in the late 70s to the United States and they came here for the American dream; the opportunity to pursue an awesome career and raise a family. When I was young, my dad made a lot of sacrifices for my family and I think I learned a lot from that. You put family first, you put them above your career, but at the same time, you work really hard to take care of them. Those values that I witnessed at a young age have been ingrained in me and I hope one day if I have my own family, I can rise up and be half the man that I think my dad is.

What is one of your favorite memories at Wonolo?

When I think of my favorite Wonolo memory. I always start to laugh. My team does these biweekly fun culture activities where someone on our team will lead an activity. Recently, I led an activity where I made my team play charades and I tried to make it fun and entertaining. I had one of my colleagues act out childbirth which is not necessarily the easiest thing to act out. She was such a good sport about it and it was hilarious watching her do that. So I always laugh and I will think of that as my favorite Wonolo memory.

If you really knew me, you would know that…

If you really knew me, you would know that I love to surf. I’m also a big financial nerd and love to read the newspaper daily. Those are probably my two favorite hobbies outside of work.
