As we enter into Global Diversity Awareness Month, we want to encourage you to take some time to learn about the different values of various cultures. This allows you to grow, strengthen your understanding, and appreciate the world. Having an open mind can help gain fresh ideas and new perspectives. We’ve provided a few ways you can celebrate, learn, and support!

How to celebrate?

Try a new recipe from another culture. These global recipes can be added to your new dinner routine. They all look so delicious!

Take a class and start to learn a new language. There are a variety of apps that are affordable to get you started. You can check out a few here

What to read, watch, or listen to?

Grab a good book that dives to new cultures. Any of these are a good start: The Memo by Minda Harts, We Are Everywhere: Protest, Power, and Pride in the History of Queer Liberation by Matthew Riemer and Leighton Brown, and Yellow by Frank Wu.

Have a family movie night that celebrates a different culture. Here a few to choose from: Hidden Figures, Moana, On the Way to School, and Loving

Want to do some learning on the go? Turn on one of these podcasts that dive into the worlds of people living different realities right now. Here are some we’ve selected: Code Switch, Latinos Who Lunch, Queering Desi, and hey, girl

Where to donate?

If you’re thinking about giving funds to a foundation for global diversity, here are a few we suggest to look into: Global Diversity Foundation, Native Arts & Cultures Foundation, and Human Rights Campaign
