SoMa StrEat Food Park used Wonolo to reduce the time and employee cost of staffing by 75%
Based in San Francisco, SoMa StrEat Food Park is culinary creativity and the independent spirit at its best. The venue features a rotating lineup of food trucks and events.
Since 2015, SoMa StrEat Food Park has been working with Wonolo to staff larger scale events at its vibrant space. Prior to using Wonolo, the team faced a shortage of labor when hosting its events, which were time- and labor-intensive. They frequently relied on informal networks of friends, friends of friends, acquaintances, and family. However, the team realized that this approach was inefficient and not a reliable long-term solution for event staffing.
They had reached a point where they were running out of people to contact and sometimes held events without sufficient staff. With Wonolo, the venue is able to access flexible workers whenever they’re needed – for day or hourly jobs.
One example was the venue’s annual crab feed, one of its biggest events of the year. In terms of execution, all-you-can-eat events can be quite complicated. There are challenges with not having enough hands to do the work and ensuring that there’s a streamlined assembly line. “I was amazed that within seconds, we had people willing to do these jobs,” said Special Events & PR Coordinator Reilly Brock.
